Me: Sweetie, what was your favorite book when you were a child?
(ten minutes of silence passes)
Husband: The Talmud.
Me: The what?
Husband: You've never heard of it? It's a Jewish book--
Me: You read the Talmud in Korean when you were a kid?
Me: So why'd you like it?
Husband: What's not to like?
Me: It's just not the kind of book you pick up at the grocery store.
Husband: The Talmud is very common here.
Sure enough, I did go to the grocery store and find several editions of the Talmud translated into Korean for less than $10 US.
